Coffee Shop Equipment

In previous posting I stated that I always want to open my own coffee shop. I will start it with a small one, and the best option is in my friend's restaurant. Where I provide the coffee for his customers, it also will increase his customers. Since the customer can come anytime not only during meal time like lunch or dinner.

I also have interesting business model and products for the customers. Especially with the specialty on gourmet coffee and the pairing of gourmet coffee.

What do you know about life?
It teaches lessson, it hits you severely and leave a scar when the wound is healed. But it also keeps you high above when you determine to achieve what you want.
Remember my posting about the rock bottom? When life slammed me down real hard, give me bruises and some severe wounds. I stayed down for quite some time. But I had to climb up from that rock bottom. It is gonna me a steep climb, but I will make it.

I am a meshugener, so I can do anything required to climb up. I am not an average normal person.
With these ups and downs in life that I have been living, I see that my life is so colorful. I never stay put in one condition for too long. I always constantly on the move. A friend of mine once asked me, "Why are you always on the run?"

I just answered, "Because life is full of surprise, and I wanna see and experience them. If I stay put or move too slow, I might miss the opportunity to experience life to the fullest."

Yeap... that's it.
Being in between job like what I am now is tough. Especially when it has been going for several months. When all my application and interview is not working. But, life goes on.
I had time to learn and deepen my understanding about my passion: coffee.

I always want to have my own coffee shop.
Since I am a coffee-connoisseur and I have a very high passion on coffee. This time I have laid my plan one step at a time and see what requires to open a coffee shop. Oh ya, I can also operate an espresso machine and make a foam milk for a cappuccino.
I can easily recognize the origin of gourmet coffee and how to pair them with suitable food or snack. This is my advantage.

All I need to do now is buying a set of espresso machine, and finding some place to open my first coffee shop. The best options is to collaborate with a friend of mine who owns a restaurant where I provide the coffee for his customers.

This Ox year...

Gee... This ox year is sooooo painfully slow.
As a rat, my characteristic is a fast-paced, aggressive and a chaser. But the year of Ox is a very slow paced, contemplative and passive.

I really have a difficult time to deal with the slow paced of this Ox year. Although there are opportunities, I can't seem to grab them quickly as I used to do. The nature of the ox and the earth element of this year is so boring.
As suggested that in this year, as a rat I have to remain conservative in spending money. But I didn't. So my saving is depleted.

It is the nature of rat to chase and charge for food, as I always do. But the slow paced of this year makes me chasing something that is not there yet. Then what I have to do? Apparently waiting until the opportunity comes up. This is not the game I like, but the Ox year love this game. So for all this years I have to play this game of slow and boring game... Then, when the opportunity comes up, i will grab them and take them with speed and force.

I had a meeting with a friend of mine who owns a company and starting up a new one.
The meeting was initiated by my request for help to some friends regarding my need of a job. He responded and set a meeting. I am grateful for his kindness and sincerity. We had done a project together a way back in the early 2000, so basically he knew my capability and qualification. We had a meeting over a coffee. I like the ambiance in the meeting and moreover the prospect of the company.

Baruch hashem I want this job to become mine. I can do it and I know I can.

I keep thinking about the meaning of it. As I can recall, the winners always chase things and do not wait. Waiting is a virtue, but people who wait will only get what left by the people who chase.

Right now, in this position where I have nothing else to lose... Since I already hit the rock bottom, I am thinking about what should I do next. Should I chase and hustle my opportunity and grab it or should I wait proactively... I think I prefer to chase and hustle. Hey, I got nothing to lose, and I got everything to gain. So it is better I chase everything that made for me and has my name on it: money, wealth and fortune.
Or even better, I will brand the money, wealth and fortune with my name. I just want to grab them all!!!

Rock Bottom

When you hit the rock bottom, that was it... You realize that you had nothing to lose, since you already lost. Guess what, I just did!
I have hit the rock bottom, and it hurt like hell!

But then I realize, hey... this is it. This is the time for me to climb up. I have nothing to worry if I still fell, cause I already hit the bottom.
Now, I will rest my soul and my body for the weekend and fighting my way up for next week. This time I will fight the fighting fiercely until I climb up.

I just found a link in YouTube the recite of a famous poem written by Konstantin Kavafy in 1931 entitled Ithaca. The recitation is by Sir Sean Connery with a background music from Vangelis. Kavafy is considered one of the best Greek poet and this Ithaca is a poem inspired by Odyssey journey back home to Ithaca after Trojan War.

Kavafy used the Ithaca as a metaphor or human's journey in life. How we should cherish the journey of life and how each event whether tough times, difficulties that we encounter will enrich our experience and maturing our soul.

The poem is so beautiful and I consider this as the spirit of human life.

I admire this man, SO MUCH...

He is the man whose struggle from rugs to riches is immortalized in his book "Pursuit of Happyness." The book was also filmed starred by Will Smith and his son Jaden Smith. HE is the one and only Christopher Paul Gardner.

As I have told in the previous postings that for the last couple of months I have been in declining moment. I hit the rock bottom, I struggled to get back in the game. Deep in my heart I know I can make my dreams come true. This obstacle was there to test me if I really keen to achieve what I want to achieve.

Life will always hit you in the face. Life will always bring you down to your knees and keep hitting you. And people will tell you that you can't achieve what you want to achieve. They will always say that. But, they just talk the talk and I walk the walk. I can do it, I can achieve it.

Chris Gardner's life story taught me that tenacity and passion will always win for our pursuit of happiness. People who can't do things will tell us that we are not capable of doing it. I will move on, leaving such people behind.

All I have to do is aim my target high and reach it, I will reach it.

Difficult time

I am in a very difficult time.
This Ox year is started with the end of project I have worked on since July 2008. Then all started declining, I made mis-investment, started up the business with wrong partners.
I hit the bottom now. Really, really the bottom of the well.

But I know August will be the bouncing month. I have seen the light, and I just need more steps to reach for the light. The thing is, I can't hold on anymore. I desperately need to bounce back and get on track again. I am severely beaten by this financial crisis.
I have to get back on my feet again... Let this August 2009 become the beginning of the light of days to shine.

I am not trying to be philosophical, but this is what keeps me going...
I have been through a tough times, the times that lead people to to drink and after a month you experience it, you will lose weights due to the amount of stress that burdened you. I did...
I have a financial problem which I will not give the detail here. But the main issue is some people I put my trust on apparently are the kind of people you should not trust at all. But I have learnt from that mistake, and I know better now.
Had I not trusted that people, I would know the difficulties of putting trust too easy on someone that you think you know, since I have known that someone from the past, and we went back a long way.

But I have a really, really GREAT FRIENDS... Friends I can rely on, friends I can count on... That what matters most. Friends whom I can share story when I need to get it out, whom I can talk to.

This will always remind me what life is all about.

I was sitting on Starbuck, enjoying my coffee when suddenly a young boy came and squat next to me. He gave me a card, the writing on the card saying that he is a difable, a mute and he is raising money by making the dolls and selling it to people. I bought one of the doll, as you see in the left.

The doll is very good. It is crafted delicately, finished and polished perfectly.
That boy is really selling good things!! He is not asking for people's compassion due to his condition, not at all. He is making the doll strictly for business. I really admire the kid. He has shown people that he is capable of making something that has an economic values so people will admire and buy it, and he earns money from it.

That kid is my teacher in life lesson. I love you my teacher...

My Technical & Business Skill

My technical skills appear to surpass my business skills.
During today's interview, my interviewer seemed to be very much impressed with my superb technical skills. She said that my Technical skills is more needed for company's consulting team. Cause I can design a system with an excellent details from the process design up to database design. Apparently, not so many people are capable of doing what I do. Most of the times people find my shoes are so large to fill in.

Well, actually I have a great business skills too. I know that. I just have to practice it over and over again. Due to my technical skills, my business skills is undermined. Although both are equals. Just like I can dribble a basketball with my both hand and my left hand is as god as my right one. That is what my technical and business skills works side by side.

Tomorrow, is the interview of the job I really want to have. The job where I can combine my technical skills with my business skills. I will be interviewed in the company that has a need for people with excellent technical skills and also in business skills... and I will be great tomorrow.
So be it...

Michael Jackson's Death?

I woke up this morning at 5:00, exercising chikung and came back to my room, turned on the TV on the CNN. The breaking news: Michael Jackson had suffered a cardiac arrest and hospitalized in Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center.

Doctor pronounced Jackson dead at 2:26 pm Pacific time or 4:26 West Indonesia time (WIB).

At 7:00 pm (9:00 WIB) his body was taken to LA Coroner Office using a green-colored Sheriff Helicopter. The autopsy is scheduled to be conducted tomorrow.

Some curiosity occured in me, is it a prank?
Too many suspicious thing occured for the sudden death.
I tried to make some small investigation, hehehe... I learnt information forensic a couple of years back, so I know some basic forensic. Here are some of the suspicious things I found:

First, cardiac arrest is a genetic. Most of the case of cardiac arrest is an ischemic heart disease or myocardial infarction. This is mainly inherited from the parents. Joseph Jackson, Michael Jackson father has no history of cardiac problems. Joe was a former boxer. and he now still lives in his 79 years of age. I know a little bit about it, because I once sold medicine for heart problem.

Second, When the helicopter carrying Michael Jackson landed in helipad across the coroner's office, and the body is carried to gurney to be put into ambulance, I noticed other suspicious thing. The body looked so stiff, like a surfboard. I don't think someone who just died in a couple of hours (5 hours to be exact, he died at 2:26 pm, the body as carried around 7:00 pm) can be that stiffs. I had carried a couple of dead bodies, and someone who died within 6 hours still has some muscle flexibility.

Third, the autopsy of Michael Jackson's body is scheduled tomorrow. What?
Is it the sign that they are trying to find the body double for Michael prior to the autopsy?
Mmmm... this is suspicious for me.

Fourth, this is the most suspicious one. Jacko is supposed to perform a series of concert next month, Concerts entitled "This is it!"

The concert will start in July 8th 2009 in O2 Arena London, please take a look at the tour poster on the left. During the preparation last year, an rumor came up saying Jacko as suffered from Alpha 1-Antitrypsin deficiency (Alpha-1).

The first person came up with this rumor is Ian Halperin, the unauthorized biographer of Michael Jackson. Alpha-1 is the deficiency that lead to the depreciation of one blood protein in lung and liver. But this issue is countered by Dr Tohme, saying Michael is in perfectly healthy condition.

March 5, in the press conference for the This is it. Michael said that the final concert is meant to be the last concert he ever conducted.

In his own words, he said "
"When I say 'This Is It', this really is it.... This is the final curtain call."

The final curtain call it is.
We never know what he meant by the final curtain call.

But he is definitely the loneliest person on earth. He has been living under spotlight for the rest of his life, ever since he joined the Jackson five in 1967, when he was just 9 years old. The live under spotlight went on up to now.

He deserved to live in peace, even if the peace is found by his transfer to the other side, to the parallel world. Or, if he chose to make people think he is death, so he is free to be himself. Either way, Michael Jackson deserve to have peace for himself.

NBA Songs... Chicago Bulls Sirius

What are the most memorable NBA songs?
That was a tough question. I got a lot of NBA songs in my mind but nothing beat "Sirius" By Alan Parsons Project. This song was and still used to introduce the Chicago Bulls players, every time they played the home game.
The ritual is also awesome. At first they introduced the visiting team, accompanied by the song "On the Run" by Pink Floyd. Then the stadium light is turned off, the Jumbotron played the animated group of bulls charging into the stadium with Sirius loudly playing. The announcer then said, "...and now... the starting line-up for world champion Chicago Bulls..."

The moment was so mesmerizing... Especially when the Bulls came back to repeat the three-peat.. (I love the rhyme) in 1996-1997-1998. The song was so magical.

Bulls was the first NBA team to create the player introduction in the 1990's. One of the others are Boston Celtics after signing in the big-3: Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen in 2007 with Lux Aeterna (Requiem to a Dream) by Clint Mansel.

I always have a fascination with Basketball... Unlike soccer, a slow paced and low scoring game, Basketball is always a great game to watch with its high scoring, high intensity of the game.

Like in this low point of me, I turned to Basketball for some inspirations.

I remembered the GREAT Chicago Bulls in the 1990's era, where his "Airness" Michael Jordan is in the lineup. Before Jordan, Chicago Bulls was only the mediocre team, but things will change when Jordan was joining in 1984.
But the important question is: did the change come soon? Nope... in 1985-19986 playoffs, Celtics swept them when they came out the door. In 1986-1987 season, again Celtics with the strong Triumvirat: Larry Bird, Robert Parrish & Kevin McHale kicked them out of the playoffs.

1987-1988, Bulls can reach the Eastern conference semifinal and beaten up by the bad boy Detroit Pistons. Again for the next two years, 1988-1989 and 1989-1990 the Pistons beat Bulls before they ever reached the NBA finals.

Bulls fought back in 1990-1991 season. They advanced to playoffs, beat the Pistons and in final beat the mighty Lakers and become NBA Champion for the first time. And... they did it again in 1991-1992, this time they beat Portland Trail Blazers.... And again!!! 1992-1993 they nailed Phoenix Suns 4-2 in the finals. The most memorable NBA finals for me.

Then Jordan retired in 1993 after his dad was shot death. This time Bulls lost its horns. In 1994, the champions squad was scattered: Horace Grant, Bill Cartwright, Scott Williams and John Paxson left the team. Leaving only Scottie Pippen.

Then in 1995, Jordan came back.
This time they have the new line-up, but duo Pippen-Jordan is back. This time the game was all different and in 1994-1995 season, the much younger team Orlando Magic beat them.

1995-1996 was the come back of the Amazing Bulls. Jordan worked out his muscles, cause he knew he couldn't keep up the speed against the younger player, so he added some power to his game.
And they did it again what they did in 1991-1993... WINNING THE NBA CHAMPION for 3 CONSECUTIVE TIMES!!!...

The greatest comeback in the history of basketball and NBA: 1996, 1997 and 1998 champions.

But after 1998, the Bulls was slowing down. and 1999-2004 was the lowest point after decade of success. They never made to the playoffs for 6 years. They kept on struggling so in 2005, they made it to the playoffs.

Things are changing fast. The ups and downs is what happens in life. Making the most of it, that is what life is all about. Thank you NBA for teaching me the lesson in life.

Indon & Malay... again

Indon is the term Malaysian used to undermine Indonesian. I see the term used is correct, let's see. Starting from Indon's own stupidity, that even dumber than a mule. I see the stupidity that goes on for centuries and still exist now.

Indon return the favor by saying Malaysian as Malingsia, meaning " you are thief" in Sundanese, a native West-Javanese language.

This is hillarious.
To see two countries dominated by Malay people (as for Indonesia, Malay are only dominant on the western part of Indonesia) keep mocking each other. I LOVE IT...

This truly showed the stupidity of the Malay people has been going on for centuries. Malay language, which is also the same as Indonesian language contributed one word to English vocabulary: amuk. In Indonesian language, it has derivative form of mengamuk. Please check the prominent English language dictionary, whether Mirriam-Webster, American Heritage or Oxford. In every dictionary, you will always find the word amuk. or sometimes pronounced amuck.

Ngamuk is even recorded by American Psychiatric Association as one of the Mental Disorder syndrome. In the DSM-IV-TR classification, a scheme to classify mental disorder, ngamuk is listed of axis IV. DSM stands for Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders. Please check the American Psychiatric Association website for further details or here. Axis IV is defined as psycho-social and environmental factor. So, ngamuk is a cultural bond syndrome that only occur for Malay and Javanese people.

I think Malaysian government understand this behavioral pattern better than stupid Indonesian. Therefore, they disallow any form of demonstration and street protest, because they know the nature of Malay people will easily ngamuk, as ever happened in July 21st 1964 racial riots in Singapore. After the prophet Muhammad birthday celebration, Malay people suddenly ngamuk and killing 4 and injured hundreds. They were targeting non-Malay who they think control their economy. After this, Malaysia and Singapore tried to contain the ngamuk behavior of Malay to keep them in cage. Then after 1964, Malaysian politic and economy relatively stable.

But, as I said before, Indon never learns.
I don't know what makes the stupidity of Indon stays in them. They never realizes the nature of ngamuk character is psychosocial among Malay and Javanese. It keeps exist in every one of Indon. Kevin Brown from University of Wisconsin-Madison conduct an extensive research and you can read it in Transcultural Psychiatry, Vol. 38, No. 2 published in 2001, on pages 147-165. The articles entitled (Ng)amuk Revisited: Emotional Expression and Mental Illness in Central Java, Indonesia.

Allowing demonstration, mass-protest as a condition required by democracy is a stupidity. Can we see, that every time protest, and demonstration and even marching occur in the street in Indonesia, the very high potential of riot always occur? How many times your heart is relieve every time you see a crowd in Indonesia gathered? For me, most of times
This cultural disease of ngamuk never cease to exist. So, allowing democracy to flourish in the society where ngamuk is embedded within is truly an idiotic ideas.

So, when the Indonesian military now is powerless and dismantled by democracy, the Indonesian had to pay the high price. When economics is crippled by democracy, due to high price of political events: legislative election, presidential election and governor/major election, that is the price to pay for allowing democracy in this society. Where the lazy people love to comment on everything, never work, always late for appointment... This is what you get with democracy, dear Indon.

Indon never learn, and will always stay Indon.

Capek banget berurusan sama amatir.
Orang yang kalo lo ngomong sesuatu dia selalu punya jawaban untuk omongan itu, tapi dia ga ngerti sama sekali tentang mekanisme pembayaran atau mekanisme kerja perbankan dan sistem keuangan. Orang kayak gini beneran NGESELIN!!!

Gue dari awal udah jelasin mekanisme pembayaran yang lebih feasibel dan lebih bisa dikontrol buat dipake. Tapi mahluk ini udah ga ngerti mekanisme pembayaran ngotot pake metode dia. Ternyata terbukti metode dia gak bisa dikontrol. Sekarang gue udah males berurusan sama mahluk ini. Gue hanya akan memberikan pembayaran berdasarkan mekanisme kontrol umum yang berlaku sama seperti kwitansi: bukti transfer. Ga ada bukti transfer, gw ga akan cairin uang.

Orang bisa aja klaim udah transfer, tapi kalo ga ada bukti transfer mana gue percaya?

Ini kisah sebenernya dari Manohara Pinot yang merupakan prequel sebelum cerita prahara rumah tangganya dengan pangeran dari Kelantan.

Manohara Pinot adalah anak dari Masai dan Hiroshi. Dia adalah anak tertua dari 3 bersaudara. Adiknya bernama Shinosuke (nama panggilannya Shinchan) dan Himawari (Daisy). Nohara adalah nama keluarga mereka dan di dalam tradisi Jepang, sama seperti tradisi Cina nama keluarga diletakkan di depan. Untuk berusaha keluar dari bayang-bayang kesuksesan keluarganya, Pinot menggunakan nama Manohara. Sehingga orang-orang melupakan bahwa dia adalah bagian dari keluarga Nohara. Taktik ini terbukti gagal total. Selain karena wajahnya yang tidak cocok untuk dijadikan tokoh kartun, sutradara Yoshita Usui pun bingung membuat peran bagi si Pinot. Terlebih dengan kemampuan akting meragukan.

Padahal kisah kelucuan dari adik-adik Manohara telah terkenal di seluruh dunia, jauh sebelum kisah reality show keluarga Ozzy Osborne, Kim Kardashian, dan Kimora Lee. Keberhasilan kisah keluarga Nohara ini memikat sedemikian banyak pemirsa se-dunia disebabkan kepolosan dan keluguan kisah keluarga Nohara. Bahkan kisah tentang anjing keluarga ini, Shiro pun mampu begitu memukau.

Pinot sebagai kakak tertua yang sama sekali tidak dilibatkan dalam seluruh cerita menjadi kesal. Ia ingin mencoba peruntungannya sendiri menjadi seorang foto model. Sayang tampangnya yang pas-pasan dan tubuhnya yang kurang proporsional menjadikannya hanya sebagai model kacangan. Frustrasi dengan kondisi ini, Pinot berencana membuat pertunjukan sendiri yang pasti akan mengorbitkan namanya. Ia merancang sebuah show yang kita liat sekarang di televisi Indonesia.

Sayangnya kisah kakak tertua dari keluarga Nohara ini cuma laku dijual di Indonesia saja... Ya, akhirnya tetap saja Manohara Pinot kalah beken dari adik-adiknya.

Kasihan sekali nasibnya...

Shio gw tikus...
Tikus selalu bergerak mencari makanan dan terus bergerak, ga bisa diem dan terus mencari. Tikus selalu dapat apa pun yang dia mau. Wiiih, besok udah masuk Juni aja.
Juni adalah bulan aktif dalam setiap tahun. Turnamen olaharga banyak berawal atau berakhir di bulan yang akan mulai besok ini. Salah satunya final NBA. Yihaaaa....

Lakers udah ke final, dikit lagi pemenang wilayah Timur bakal ditentuin antara Orlando Magic dan Cleveland Cavaliers. Kondisi saat ini Magic masih memimpin dan kalo Magic menang maka Lakers dan Magic sama-sama menang 4-2 lawan pesaingnya. Tapi gw sih lebih suka Cavs yang maju ke final. Pengen liat Kobe Bryant lawan Le Bron James di final.

Masih nungguin pemenang antara Cavs lawan Magic.

Some Things are Better Left Behind

I gotta get this thing off my chest.

I got so pissed off this week and last week with the slow and underestimated point of view from some people I work with. I am OK with some glitch or mistake or event defect in the process that people do. But when someone underestimates things and gives me a headache, I better leave that behind.

I had this experience with someone that I thought worthy of working with. But it turned out that this guy ain't worthy of at all. In the beginning of the deal, we made an agreement that I did the sales and he did the administration stuff... But he turned out to be a disappointment...

So I decided to leave this guy behind and all the business we have been working on. Before I wasted more of my precious time and my other resources. Some things are better left behind.

Tension Release

Menulis itu ternyata emang cukup ampuh buat pelepasan emosi dan stres.

Minggu-minggu ini gw lagi agak tertekan karena banyak hal yang musti diselesaikan tapi belum bisa selesai. Juga ada hal yang harusnya berjalan lancar malah jadi gak berjalan.

Gw mulai mengalihkan pikiran dengan nulis cerita. Lumayan... Bisa ngeluarin sebagian beban yang ada di kepala. Trus ternyata plurking juga lumayan bikin tenang. Aaaah....

Beneran satu tension release kalo bisa ngeluarin sebagian isi kepala. Sama kayak ban atau tekanan kabin di pesawat. Kalo kebanyakan kan bisa meledak, kalo kurang juga gak bagus. Berada dalam kondisi seimbang itu yang paling ok.

Ada tekanan emang perlu, tapi berlebihan juga kurang baik. Juga kalo tekanan udah mulai kebanyakan, musti bisa nurunin tekanan itu. Tapi terlalu santai juga gak bagus.

Setelah melewati perjalanan yang menghabiskan air minum dan kaos, Vito dan Roo punya gw dan istri sampe juga ke titik nol kilometer Indonesia di Iboih, Pulau Weh.

Gileee, rutenya gila-gilaan. Banyak tanjakan najis dan turunan jahanam yang gila banget. Kita cuma kuat gowes 4 kilometer. Masih ada 4 kilometer dan Edward, temen kita bawa bantuan dengan mobil hingga Vito dan Roo jadi sepeda lipet pertama yang mencapai titik nol kilometer Indonesia.
